Agenda and Committee Updates

President

Update

·        The Novice level was erroneously approved for 178 hour of ice however should have been allotted only 70 hours. Bob Picard worked diligently to come up with a solution. Several teams offered to purchase extra ice. As of November 22, most of the extra ice was spoken for. The OMHA is holding 40 hours of ice for resale to our teams later in the season. 40 more hours remain and will be offered for sale to other GHA associations.

·        Overall, teams in the OMHA are well-balanced.

·        The Board has been receiving complaints that affiliates are being called up without a courtesy call to their coaches. Directors are to remind their coaches that they must follow Hockey Canada regulations E27(E) and E40 as per the Specially Affiliated Player Permission Form signed by all parties, which states “Permission to use an affiliated player must be obtained on a game by game basis form the player’s original team as per Hockey Canada Regulations E27(E) and E40.”

Motion: To add to OMHA Rules and Regulation #12 - “an affiliating coach must advise the affiliating member’s team of the affiliation with as much notice as possible.”

Motion: P.Harrison                Second: T. Courtney Carried

New Business

·        The OMHA office has moved back to its old spot near the east entrance of the building.

·        If successful at ending the photocopier lease with Xerox, we will purchase a good all-in-one printer for office use.

Treasurer/Registrar

Update

·        Directors will send a reminder to coaches to submit their budgets as soon as possible.

·        Police checks are trickling in. Coaching staff are starting to be informed that they are not to be on the bench without a police check.

Director Competitive

Update

·        Overall, the results of the pilot for which both associations are participating in is showing success.

·        The mentorship section on the OMHA website has now gone live, additions will follow in the upcoming weeks.

Director, IP/Novice

Update

·        Sens Day was very well received, all kids had fun.

·        IP will be putting together a game schedule for after January 1. A game and drills will be run simultaneously in order to keep all children busy.

·        IP development is going well. A handful of players will be moved to higher levels to further foster development.

·        Novice teams are doing very well in standings.

Director, Atom/Pee-Wee

Update

·        The Atom Tournament was very successful, the first All Star and Skills Competitions were held and received a lot of positive feedback.

·        Atom/Peewee teams are well-balanced.

New Business

·        A serious altercation took place during the Atom Tournament between some members of the tournament organizing committee, the OMHA President, and a President from another participating association.

Motion: To file a formal letter of complaint from the OMHA Board of Directors to the GHA, including discussed amendments.
